  5. Fido is a public domain bulletin board software system developed by
  6. Tom Jennings from San Francisco, California.  Some of the features
  7. of the Fido Bulletin Board System include -
  8.  
  9.    - Unlimited number of users
  10.    - Absolute security
  11.    - Multiple message and file areas
  12.    - Consistent Email commands
  13.    - Eight file transfer methods
  14.    - Supports 300, 1200, 2400 baud

  16. The FidoNet is also available for Fido BBS systems to store and forward
  17. messages and files.  This is a non realtime packet switched electronic
  18. mail system with over 250 nodes nationwide and in several countries.

  20. Telenet chose to use the Fido software as the BBS system for its'
  21. PC Pursuit User Guide based on its ease of operation, installation and
  22. maintenance.  Telenet also paid the $100 fee for commercial use of this
  23. software package.
